FIRST CONTACT EMAIL & EMAILS FROM SCAMMERS !

Does it start with hello angel, sweetie, cutie, princess, etc.?
Is their spelling, grammar, etc. very different from their profile?
Do they tell you their name followed by "by name"? ex: am Kelvin by name
Do they give you their age, location, etc. even though it is on the profile?
Do they say God fearing or fears God rather than loves God?
Do they seem to have "fill in the blanks" ( )'s. Ex: Am (52) of age, I saw your profile on.....
Do they say "am" rather than "I am"? Ex: "am Kelvin by name. am Engineer"
Do they seem to compliment you too much?
Did their spouse die in some accident or cancer?
Did their spouse cheat on them with their best friend?
Are they left with one or two children?
Do they seem to profess their love for you right away?
Do they repeat themselves?
Does the email seem to be excessively long for an introduction?
Do they use what looks like poetry?
Do they say that age is just a number?
Do they say age, color or distance does not matter?
Do they want you to reply to their "private" email?
Do they say they don't get on the site much and prefer that you email them.
Do they say they are almost always online.
Do they want to talk on IM immediately?
Do they want you to reply immediately?
Do they email you poems?
Do they sometimes forget your name or use someone else's name in an email to you?
Do they say "I care"? ex: "hope to read from you soonest...I care"

MILITARY SCAMS

A few things things to look for in a military scam: 1. The e-mails are written with improper verb conjugation, improper use of pronouns, improper noun/verb agreement and miss-spelled words. It is fairly obvious that these e-mails were written by someone who learned English (very poorly learned) as a second language in the British style. 2. Deployed Soldiers are compensated very well with special pays, bonuses and tax exemptions. It is not uncommon for a Soldier of any rank to realize a “third paycheck” when they are deployed. And a Soldier always has access to his/her money in one way or another. How can these scammers have access to the internet to troll dating sites looking for targets but, cannot use the internet to purchase the items they are asking for themselves.

3. Also, in regards to money, there are very few places for a Soldier to spend their money while deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan. A Soldier maybe broke before or after a deployment but, a Soldier is usually pretty flush while deployed. Except, of course, if he spends all his money on the internet.

4. With regards to family emergencies, all Soldiers and family members know to contact the American Red Cross if a deployed Soldier has a family emergency at home. A Red Cross Message is the only way a deployed Soldier will return in cases of a family emergency. The Soldier’s chain of command will get the Soldier home if a valid Red Cross Message is received. The Army will provide transportation from Iraq or Afghanistan to Atlanta or Dallas; from there, the Soldier must provide his/her own transportation (just as if the Solder we not deployed). If the Soldier cannot afford a plane ticket from Atlanta or Dallas to their hometown, the Army Emergency Relief will provide the funds, as a grant or loan, to purchase the ticket. And this will all be coordinated before the Solder leaves his unit; a Soldier will only be stranded if he/she does something stupid.

5. If you are still unsure if you are being scammed, ask the Soldier to send you an e-mail from their AKO account. Only Solders, a very few family members, and certain contractors have @us.army.mil e-mail address. If they refuse, tell them to take a flying leap! If they get angry with you and accuse you of not trusting them, tell them to take a flying leap!

Online Romance Scam Information

Army CID is warning anyone who is involved in online dating to proceed with caution when corresponding with persons claiming to be U.S. Soldiers currently serving in Afghanistan or elsewhere.

Army CID receives hundreds of allegations a month from victims who state they got involved in an online relationship with someone, on a legitimate dating website or other social media website, who claims to be a U.S. Soldier. The "Soldier" then begins asking for money for various false service-related needs such as transportation costs, communication fees, marriage, processing and medical fees. Victims of these online scams have lost tens of thousands of dollars, with a very low possibility of recovery.

The U.S. has established numerous task force organizations to deal with this growing epidemic; unfortunately, many times the people committing these scams are from African countries using untraceable email addresses, routing accounts through numerous locations around the world and utilizing pay per hour Internet cyber cafes, which often times maintain no accountability of use.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR:
- DON’T EVER SEND MONEY! Be extremely suspicious if you are asked for money for transportation costs, communication fees or marriage processing and medical fees. Use of Western Union

- If you do start an internet-based relationship with someone, check them out, research what they are telling you with someone who would know, such as a current or former service member.

- Be very suspicious if you never get to actually speak with the person on the phone or are told you cannot write or receive letters in the mail. Servicemen and women serving overseas will often have an APO or FPO mailing address. Internet or not, service members always appreciate a letter in the mail.

- Many of the negative claims made about the military and the supposed lack of support and services provided to troops overseas are far from reality - check the facts.

- Be very suspicious if you are asked to send money or ship property to a third party or company. Often times the company exists, but has no idea or is not a part of the scam.

- Be very suspicious if the person you are corresponding with wants you to mail anything to an African country.

- Be aware of common spelling, grammatical or language errors in the emails.

- Be very suspicious of someone you have never met and who pledges their love at warp speed.

NIGERIAN SCAMMERS
Nigerian scammers profiles has several faults that we may not notice but they are there;

Bio: they are all god fearing, honest and in a lot of words they will explain why they are looking for a woman and how they are going to make her happy. Shortly they relate to Tagged and Facebook as another dating site.

They lost their wives (widowers) in many cases it’s a tragic event, and they have a kid or two to take care of (Note that the amount of kids may depend on the picture they succeeded to steal)

They are honest – this word will always be in the first sentence and will be repeated several times.

Hobbies: scammers believe that women are attracted to family related activity so camping will be there swimming and of course to be shown intellectual they love reading. actually reading their hobbies they seems quite boring people.

Many of the scammers don’t really understand the difference between the UK and the USA and they claim to grow in the UK but live in the USA they have no idea how rare it is.

Many of them will place Oxford as their university sometimes as high school even. They simply know one name so they use it.

General: Long bio is suspicious unless they are selling something online; most people won’t bother that much with the Bio.

Friends: small friends list mainly women with 1-2-3 networkers (that accept anyone) but almost always another faked profile or African which is in many cases the actual scammer.

The wall: many times contain sentences such as “i am waiting for my love”, ” love is the more important…” and things like that. It may also expose their current victim, the one they declare their love to or call her my wife. Look carefully and check who is the current cooperating woman she is probably the one to be scammed next

If you see 44701,702,703.. it means NIGERIA!

These are an area code followed by the number. The UK area codes begin 01- ALWAYS - For all areas outside London, and for London it is 02. All UK numbers begin +441, or +442. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE FOR LANDLINES.

The number like this: 0094470359861... is a UK number with the prefix "009". There are some countries who can not dial directly 0044. After the 44 you see "701; 702; 703" is a special number circle in UK that can be forwarded to every point on this earth. It’s expensive, but scammers use it often… ##########
